The Point, Upper Saranac Lake, NY. 2009-Present
Master plan for an historic Great Camp Resort within the Adirondack Park. An extensive planting strategy to reestablish original forest communities, restore severe storm damage and minimize lawn expanses. The pattern of dark and light, forest and clearing, of the entrance road, enhances the experience of guest arrival. Evergreen plantings of hemlock and fir shape intimate spaces and define views to the lake. Deciduous maple and birch species create canopies of shade, supporting understory plantings of ferns, moss and partridgeberry. Lowbush blueberry replaces grass in sunny clearings around the cabins.
