Lake Champlain Historic Estate, Ferrisburgh, VT 2017
The landscape master plan for this historic 19th century property was prompted by the collapse of a 15′ high terrace retaining wall. The main house, which has panoramic views of Lake Champlain, was built of Panton Stone quarried from the site. The new design reflects the unique history of the landscape and architecture while introducing contemporary concepts. Ledge exposed during construction inspired the design of an organic stone amphitheater overlooking the lake. Plantings sweep to the lawn, filling the spaces between the outcroppings.
