Entry Garden Steps, Lincoln, Vermont 2016
The existing front entrance to this home meandered uphill through a large overgrown perennial garden inherited from the previous owner. The original stone path and steps were narrow, eroding and hard to find. The goal of this design was to enhance the arrival sequence and modify the planting design to meet the client’s interests. The size and alignment of the entrance steps now balance the scale of the garden and clearly indicate a primary path to the house. The new planting plan is composed of a tall sweeps of grasses and meadow plants running the length of the garden with creeping perennials and groundcovers edging the path and cascading along the steps.
